What are the Roost Olympics?

The “Roost Olympics” is a new event we created to see who truly is the best of the best. Some people may be really good at pool while others are really good at playing video games. But what we want to find out is who is good at EVERYTHING! The games (events) that the participants will be competing in are Pool, Ping-Pong, Air Hockey, and Mario Kart.

How it works

The Roost Olympics is a 3 day event. Sign up begins at 6:30 and the event officially gets started at 7 each day. On the first 2 days, August 25 and August 26, 16 participants will be allowed to sign up. It is “first come, first serve” so make sure to get there early. You are only allowed to sign up on 1 day so make sure to choose the one most convenient to you. Once all 16 spots are filled, the participants will be broken up into brackets for each event. 8 of the participants will begin to play pool and 8 will play ping-pong. As participants finish their current events, the losers will be sent to air hockey to compete there. Once they finish at air hockey, they will then go to the event that they have not participated in yet; either pool or ping-pong. Once pool, ping-pong, and air hockey are completed the final event, Mario Kart, will begin. Once that is finished, the top 8 will be announced. On August 27, the top 8 participants from Day 1 and the top 8 from Day 2 will come back and play against each other and from there the best of the best, aka The Roost Champion, will be crowned.

If you have any questions feel free to ask the Roost staff before or on the day of the event and they will gladly assist you.

How scoring will work

For every win you earn in each event (Pool, Ping-Pong, Air Hockey) you will earn 1 point. If you lose, you get 0 points. Since we will be using a 16 man bracket, you can potentially earn 4 points per event. For Mario Kart, you will earn your points depending on how you place;

1st: 4 points

2nd: 3 points

3rd: 2 points

4th: 1 point

You will race 4 times and your total score at the end will go to your overall score.

Once all events are completed, all your points will be added together to determine your place. In the event of a tie for 8th place, the tie breaker will be a simple game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

There will be free pizza for all those who participate!!!!!
